Seeking God, Proclaiming His Word, Building His Church
Prayers You May Use
A PRAYER FOR SALVATION
Father God, I believe that you are there and that you care about everyone’s thoughts and behaviors. I realize that my thoughts and behaviors fall far short of your standard, and that I can never reform enough, become good enough, or work hard enough to make up for my sins. I believe that Jesus Christ, your Son is my only hope because He died for my sins. Right now I turn away from all my sins in the past and in the present, and put my trust in the power and love of Jesus Christ to save me. May His Spirit come into my heart and change me forever, and grant me the gift of eternal life. Amen.
WHEN I FEEL INDIFFERENT
I seem, at times, to be swallowed up in an attitude of apathy, having no interest in the things of God. I confess that I have displayed an indifferent spirit at times. We are instructed to bear one another’s burdens, but I confess that I don’t want to make the effort. I feel bogged down by my own burdens. Help me Lord, in these listless periods to remember to turn to You and Your Word where I am admonished to be fervent in spirit (Romans 12:11) and not be lazy (Hebrews 6:12). I pray as the Psalmist prayed (51:12) “Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation.” Amen.
WHEN I FEEL DESERTED
Blessed Jesus: Some friends I depended on have truly let me down. I come to you now because of my disappointment, and ask you to just wrap me up in your loving arms. Thank you for promising to be near to me when my heart is aching. You come “closer than a brother”. (Proverbs 18:24) When my spirit is crushed, you soothe me. Your Word says that You draw “near to them who have a broken heart”. (Psalm 43:18) Please put a new song in my heart, Lord, and enable me to live in victory over my disappointments, so that others will see, and will be encouraged to put their trust in you. Amen.
WHEN I FEEL UNAPPRECIATED
Heavenly Father: Sometimes it seems that no matter how hard I try to do good deeds or make generous gestures, my efforts go unrecognized and unappreciated by those around me. Thank you for reminding me to look to your Word, the Bible, where I read in Colossians 3:17, “Whatsoever you do in word or deed, do all to the glory of God”. Help me Jesus, not to seek praise and approval for myself from others. May I instead, live my life in a way that will honor You, and bring praise and glory to you. Amen.
